William Hill passed peacefully on April 17, 2024 at the age of 89 following a short illness. He was born in Camden, New Jersey on November 30, 1934 to William Hill and Margaret Hill, nee Hughes. Bill was raised in Silverton, New Jersey, the youngest of five siblings. Bill was predeceased by his siblings Margaret Clayton, Harry Hill, Betty Adams, and Patricia Kerr.
Bill grew up on Kettle Creek in Silverton surrounded by a close-knit family that gathered often and enjoyed celebrating life. It was here that he developed his life-long love of the water and sailing, enjoying racing catboats on the Barnegat Bay with his sister Pat. Bill was a carpenter by trade, taught by his brother Harry. Bill built his family’s home on Millers Mill Road in Cream Ridge, New Jersey and later his and Nancy’s retirement home in Cedar View, on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling retirement, traveling the country with Nancy and continuing his sailing escapades on the Chesapeake Bay. There he continued a long tradition that began in the Barnegat Bay of marking all of the sandbars to be found. He will be remembered fondly by his extended family and neighbors in Cedarview for his boisterous personality, willingness to always lend a hand and never missing an opportunity for an adventure.
His loving wife, Nancy Hill, nee Hodgson; his daughter and son-in-law Susan and Paul Pullen, his daughter Holly Hill and grandchildren Cyrus and Solomon Dunston, his daughter and son-in-law Heather and Paul Falkoff and grandchildren Kit and Jakob Falkoff will continue to carry on his legacy/memory.
