William H. Browne

William Huffaker Browne, 81, husband of Lorene M. Browne, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 6, 2010 at his home in Eastville, VA. He was the son of the late Mary Faith and William O. Browne. He was an ROTC officer during 1951-1954 and served in West Germany. He was a teaching fellow at George Washington University, where he earned M.A. and Ph D. degrees. He came to the Eastern Shore of Virginia in 1967 to work for the University of Virginia Branch Schools of General Studies, now the Eastern Shore Community College. He retired after 26 years. Other than his wife, he is survived by two step-children, James and Ariel Skelley and two step-grandchildren, Hal J. Skelley and Hunter Meakin. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Eastville with the Rev. Harry Crandall officiating. Mr. Stefan Dulcie will play Bill's favorite music. A reception will follow.
