William Alden (View Video Tribute) Briden

William Alden Briden, 73, known to family and friends as "Bill" died Thursday, December 10, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Briden was born March 30, 1936, in Belmar, New Jersey, the son of William Joseph Briden and Dorothy McCumber Briden. He and his wife, Marjorie of 52 years, moved to the Eastern Shore of VA in 1986. Bill graduated from St. Rose High School, Belmar, NJ and was a Journeyman for Local 2250, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He was also a member of the US Coast Guard Auxillary Flotilla 12-02 and a founding member of the Dept. of Homeland Security. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and a charter member of Msg. Edward Mickle Council 14263, Knights of Columbus. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Barbara Brinks of Walkersville, MD, Theresa Duff and her husband Timothy of Monterey, VA and Suzanne Canales of Walkersville, MD, a son, Patrick Briden and his wife Lorraine of Wall, NJ; nine grandchildren, Jonas and Jolene Brinks, Brianna and Sean Duff, Leigh-Anne and Andrew Tempest, Erica, Kayla, and Nicholas Briden; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Anne Tighe, and several nieces and nephews. A Christian Wake Service will be held Sunday at 7:00 PM in St. Charles Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday December 14, 2009 at 11:00 AM in St. Charles Catholic Church with Father J. Michael Breslin officiating. Inurnment will follow in St. Charles Borromeo Memorial Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Catholic Church, 545 Randolph Ave., Cape Charles, VA 23310 or to Hospice of the Eastern Shore, 165 Market Street, Suite #3, Onancock, VA 23417.
