William Francis Smith, 51, husband of Liz H. Smith and a resident of Exmore, VA, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at his residence. A native of Painter, VA, he was the son of the late Forrest LeCato Smith and the late Adelia Anne Shelton Smith. He was a retired Deputy Sheriff for the Northampton County Sheriff's Office, former Virginia State Trooper and Police Officer for the Town of Exmore with 26 years of combined service in law enforcement. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and Troy D. Ashe Pistol Tournament.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by two sons, William F. Smith, Jr. and his companion, Mere Savage, of Painter, James S. Tittermary and his companion, Candice Clayton, of Exmore and three grandchildren, Patrick, Natalie and Allison Tittermary of Exmore.
A graveside service with Police Honors will be conducted Sunday, December 20, 2015 at 2:30 PM at Belle Haven Cemetery with Reverend Jonathan Carpenter officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Troy D. Ashe Memorial Pistol Tournament, Post Office Box 199, Birdsnest, VA 23307.
