Wanda Turner

Mrs. Wanda Bush Turner, 84 of Wachapreague VA, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.  Born Thursday, April 20, 1939, in Wilmington, DE, she was the daughter of late Carey and Helen Bush. Wanda graduated from high school in 1956 and never looked back.

She was an expert seamstress, avid gardener, and horses were her passion. She spent over 35 years of her life in Wilmington, which involved raising a family, riding horses and helping her daughter navigate the horse world.  In terms of work, she had her own drapery business for many years making curtains for a wide variety of people.  She would sew during the day and her husband, who worked in finance, would help her hang the curtains at night.  When that career ended, she went back to work for DuPont (where she and her husband met) where she was an executive assistant.

In 1999 she moved to Wachapreague.  Her husband and his family were from there.  It was here she came to embrace the Eastern Shore way of life and love the town of Wachapreague.  She rode her horse Bailey until she was about 82.  Even though she couldn’t ride anymore Bailey still gave her much joy in life.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, parents Carey & Helen Bush, and many others.  She is survived by her daughter, Kim Aichele; son-in law, Dave Aichele; grandkids, Justin and Shea; sister, Joanne Loving; nephew, Bill Turner; and her horse, Bailey.

A celebration of life service will be conducted Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 1:00PM at Powelton Presbyterian Church with Pastor Laura Chuquin-Naylor.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent in her memory to the SPCA Eastern Shore Inc., P.O. Box 164, Onley, VA 23418.
