Virginia Robinson Hamblin

December 10, 1938 — January 9, 2009

Virginia Robinson Hamblin, 70, wife of Larry Hamblin, Sr. and a resident of Willis Wharf, passed away Friday, January 9, 2009 at Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital. A native of Church Neck, she was the daughter of the late George and Dorothy Smith Robinson. She was a retired L.P.N. from Shore Memorial Hospital, a member of the Mason's Cove Brethren Church, and attended Exmore Baptist Church. She was a 1960 graduate of the Northampton-Accomack Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Nassawadox, Virginia. Other than her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Carole H. van Kleef and her husband John of Parksley, Va., Deborah H. Linton and her husband Jeffrey of West Columbia, S.C.; a son, John L. Hamblin, Jr., of Willis Wharf, Va.; a brother, George William Robinson and his wife Sandy of Midlothian, Va.; three grandsons, Maury Robinson van Kleef, Richard Paul Linton, and Jonathan Daniel Linton. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Exmore Baptist Church with the Rev. Jonathan Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Haven Cemetery. Family will join friends at the Doughty Funeral Home Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. Contributions in her memory may be made to Shore Christian Academy Fund, 11624 Occohannock Rd., Exmore, Va., 23350. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Shore Cancer Center and Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital for the outstanding care and support they provided during Mrs. Hamblin's illness.
