Mrs. Verna Mae Parks, wife of Calvin M. Parks and a resident of Exmore, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at Shore Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Parks, a native of Clam, Va., was the daughter of the late Everett M. Young and the late Mildred Taylor Young. She was a member of the Belle Haven United Methodist Church and Women of the Moose, Exmore Chapter #1349. Other than her husband, Mrs. Parks is survived by two daughters, Carla Parks Zuchel and her husband Joey of Painter, Va. and Teena Parks Haugh and her husband Michael of Chincoteague, Va., a brother, Jack Young of Stockton, Md., five grandchildren; Joseph P. "Jody" Zuchel, Jaime Z. Moore, Rachel L. Haugh, S. Chase Haugh and Emily P. Haugh; one great granddaughter, Josie Raye Zuchel. Mrs. Parks was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Sue Spence. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday September 1, 2005 at 2:00 PM from the graveside of Mt. Holly Cemetery, Onancock, Va., with the Rev. Jack D. Pruitt and the Rev. Robert Schoeman officiating. Family will join friends at the Doughty Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Belle Haven United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 37, Belle Haven, Va. 23306 or to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Benjamin Mears, P.O. Box 67, Eastville, Va. 23347 Arrangements made by Doughty Funeral Home, Exmore.
