Velia de Leon Powell, 76, wife of the late Burley Goodman "Jack" Powell and a resident of Bluffton, South Carolina, formerly of Virginia Beach died Monday November 20, 2006 at Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville, South Carolina. A native of Brownsville, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Amelia de Leon de Leon and Cleotilde de Leon. Mrs. Powell was a member of Virginia Beach Garden Club. She was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Bluffton, S.C. Survivors include two sons; Jack Powell of Bluffton, S.C., Victor Powell of Virginia Beach, VA; six brothers; Arturo de Leon of Homestead, FL., Noe de Leon of Moses Lake, Washington, Cleotilde de Leon, Jr. of Forest City, FL., Roberto de Leon of Moses Lake, Washington; two sisters, Lydia Garza of Moses Lake, Washington, Amelia Alvarado of Moses Lake, Washington and two grandchildren. A funeral mass will be conducted Wednesday November 22, 2006 at 3:30 pm in St Charles Catholic Church, Cape Charles, Virginia with Father J. Michael Breslin officiating. Interment will follow in the Cape Charles Cemetery. Arrangements made by Wilkins-Doughty Funeral Home, Cape Charles, Virginia
