Udella Hopkins Courtney

Udella Hopkins Courtney, 90, the wife of the late Herman E. Courtney and a resident of Onley, passed away Monday, February 4, 2008 at the home of her daughter. A native of Deep Creek, VA, she was the daughter of the late Charles U. Hopkins and the late Leanora Lilliston Hopkins. She retired from Glick & Sons of Onancock, VA and was a member of Leatherbury United Methodist Church. Mrs. Courtney is survived by a daughter, Linda C. Rew and her husband, Barry, of Onley, and a son, Charles W. "Billy" Courtney, Sr. and his wife, Eileen, of Painter, VA; two grandchildren, Erica R. Lawson and her husband, Dane, of Melfa, VA and Charles W. Courtney, Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Levittown, PA; two great grandchildren, Alexander W.Courtney and Ryan N. Lawson. She was predeceased by two sisters, Minervia H. Smith and Viola Smith. Funeral services will be conducted from the Doughty Funeral Home on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Jon Woodburn officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Holly Cemetery, Onancock, VA. Family will join friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at the Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore.
