Thomas Cunningham Fountaine, 74, passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 4, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles A. Fountaine, Jr. and Martha C. Fountaine and niece, Alexis Fountaine. He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen P. Fountaine; sons, David C. Fountaine (Susan) and Mark A. Fountaine (Chad); siblings, Charles A. Fountaine III (Natalie), Martha L. Lyon (Al) and Robert N. Fountaine (Kathy); and his loving granddaughters, Olivia G. Fountaine, Emily E. Fountaine and Anna C. Fountaine. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lynne F. Andrako (John), brother-in-law, Stephen D. Farmer (Christine); and nieces and nephews, Chris Lyon (Stephanie), Katie Chadwick (Bill), Laurie Richardson, Lyndsey Yocom (Kyle), Michael Fountaine, and Anna Jessup (Charlie), David Andrako (Jill) and Matthew Andrako.
Tom was born in Nassawadox on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. He graduated from Northhampton High School where he was a star baseball pitcher. He also graduated from the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School and Campbell College in Buies Creek, North Carolina. Aside from baseball, his greatest passion in later life was golfing with friends, enjoying time with his wife of 42 years, his children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 2:30 PM at Capeville United Methodist Church with Reverend Randy Timmerman officiating. Interment will follow in Capeville Masonic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Massey Cancer Center at VCU Health System, PO Box 843042, Richmond, VA 23284-3042.
