Thomas Pettit Ashby, Jr.

Thomas Pettit Ashby, Jr., 80, husband of the late Rebecca Bundick Ashby and a resident of Belle Haven, VA, passed away, Sunday, September 25, 2011 at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield, MD. A native of Northampton County, VA, he was the son of the late Thomas Pettit Ashby, Sr. and the late Loleta Ames Ashby. He was a retired district manager for Delmarva Power and Light Company, member of Belle Haven United Methodist Church, Exmore Rotary, Ocean Masonic Lodge 116 AF & AM, Exmore Moose Lodge 683. He is survived by two daughters, Jane A. Skweres of Pocomoke City, MD, and Jill A. Birchett of Mechanicsville, VA; two sisters, Clara Ann A. James of Nassawadox, VA, Patricia Ames Custis Ashby Robertson of Newport News, VA; three grandchildren, James D. Skweres Jr. and his wife, Sophia of Westover, MD, Julie R. Skweres of Pocomoke City, and Jennifer W. Klein and her husband, Kevin of Midlothian, VA.; a great granddaughter, Emma Skweres. Mr. Ashby was predeceased by a daughter, Jennifer A. Watson. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 3:00 PM at the Belle Haven Cemetery with Rev. Robert Madron officiating.
