Susie Downing

March 6, 1931 — September 6, 2015

Susie M. Downing, 84, a resident of Chesapeake, VA, formerly of Cape Charles, VA, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Chesapeake Health and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Birdsnest, VA, she was the daughter of the late Edward Jacob Downing and the late Fannie Mae Charnock Downing. She was a retired Executive Assistant and member of Red Bank Baptist Church. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by five brothers, Colonna Downing, Otho Downing, Vernon Downing, Frank Downing, Francis Downing and a sister, Mary Anna Downing. A homecoming celebration will be conducted Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Cheriton Baptist Church Fellowship Hall with Rev. Dr. Charles Peterson officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Red Bank Baptist Church, c/o Michael Zodun, P.O. Box 564, Belle Haven, VA 23306 or to Cheriton Baptist Church, 21291 South Bayside Road, Cape Charles, VA 23310.
