Shirley Eola Steele Kelley Burland, 70, wife of Robert Burland and a resident of Oyster, VA, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014 at her residence. A native of LaMoure County, ND, she was the daughter of the late W. Lewis Steele and the late Doris Burnett Steele. She was a life-long member of the Methodist Church, served 22 years as Food Service Director at Heritage Hall Healthcare and five years as Cafeteria Manager at Kiptopeke Elementary School. Possessed of a sunny and compassionate disposition, Mrs. Burland was loved and respected by all who came in contact with her. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She will be sorely missed by friends and family. In addition to her loving husband of 32 years, she is survived by three daughters, Julie K. Kelley, Susan M. Kelley, Sara E. Kelley Burriesci and her husband, Rob; two grandchildren, Stefanie Smith Gelo and her husband, Joseph, James A. Burriesci; two great grandchildren, Morgan G. Gelo, Joseph L. Gelo, Jr.; one step-son, Robert Burland, Jr.; one step-daughter, Deanna Lee Hickman; three step-grandchildren, Tiffany K. Burland Weddle, Jordan N. Burland Card, William R. Hickman; three sisters, Evelyn Genzel, Betty Blevins, Margaret Steele; two brothers, Francis Steele, James Steele; and three special caregivers, Sue Moore, Libby Widgeon, and Josephine Onley. Mrs. Burland was predeceased by a sister, Louisa Steele and three brothers, Gail Steele, Ben Steele and Stan Steele. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Capeville Masonic Cemetery with Reverend Janet C. Allen officiating.
