Sherry Bailey

Sherry Lynn Bailey, 70, born on July 3, 1953, at Shaw Air Force Base, Sumter, SC. Passed away September 21, 2023, in Exmore, VA.

Preceded in death by her father Francis “Allen” Bailey and sister Teresa Bailey Gersick. She is survived by husband, Keith Martin Cummings; son, Ren Sebastian Barnes; mother, Ida Lou Deese Bailey; aunt, Norma Faulkner; sister, Beverly Bailey Stetar; and brother-in-law, Edward Stetar. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Karen Leck and Lisa Tomak; and brother-in-law, John Cummings. Sherry is survived by nieces and nephews, Marissa Gersick Winker, Karen Stetar, Stephen Stetar, and Kendall Gersick Holleran; as well as great nieces and nephews.

She received her bachelor’s degree in creative writing and fine art and master’s degree in creative writing from Florida State University. Sherry also attended New York University Film School studying film production. She was a passionate student of film, literature, and art and held positions in those areas during her life. Sherry worked for many years in New York City in the corporate world where she loved going to the theater and dining at fancy restaurants. She was also an accomplished teacher at both the high school and undergraduate level. Sherry was a beloved and faithful friend to all she knew throughout her life.

Interment will be held privately in Johnstown, PA.
