Ruth M. Terry

Mrs. Ruth Mason Terry, 84, wife of the late Henry M. "Buzzy" Terry, Jr., passed away Saturday, April 1, 2006 in Virginia Beach, VA. " Miss Ruth", as she was affectionately known throughout the Eastern Shore, made her home in Willis Wharf, VA., a location she once thought of as the "jumping off place", a vast change from her Clarksburg, WV roots where she was raised by her parents, the late Clyde Mason and Pansy Snodgrass Mason. She was "Mother" to Rachel Terry Pack of Chesterfield, VA., Helen Terry Cox and her husband, George, of Virginia Beach, VA., and Richard "Woody" Terry of Dumfries, VA., "Nana" to Terry Len Pack, Rachel Nicole Cox, Richard Woodhull Terry, Jr., Bradley Wescott Terry and his wife, Kami, and Cameron Sean Swanson, and "Aunt Ruthie" to numerous nieces and nephews. An accomplished and energetic woman, Mrs. Terry was Treasurer of the Ladies Golf Association of the Eastern Shore Yacht and Country Club and an active member of Epworth United Methodist Church. She was also the first female bank officer on the Eastern Shore and later retired as Vice President of First Virginia Bank. Added to this list of accomplishments was her reputation in the kitchen for her legendary baked goods. However, all of this dulls in comparison to her love and devotion to her husband, "Buzzy", and their family. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at 1:00 PM at Epworth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tammy Estep officiating.
