Ruth Parks Ashby, 94, wife of the late Harley Ames Parks and the late George Milton Ashby and a resident of Exmore, VA, passed away Monday, May 19, 2014 at her son's residence in Belle Haven, VA. A native of Maryland and Delaware, she was the daughter of the late William Allen Hooper, better known as Guy, and the late Ruby Truitt Hooper. She was a member of Exmore Baptist Church and Women of the Moose. She is survived by two sons, Harley A. Parks, Jr. and his wife, Tress, of Belle Haven, Barry B. Parks and his wife, Patty, of Concord Wharf, VA; one sister, Thelma Hales of Boca Raton, FL; two brothers, Ralph Hooper and his wife, Pat, of Mardela Springs, MD, Adolphus Hooper, better known as Buddy, of Mardela Springs; four grandchildren, Jackie Parks Nelson and her husband, Sam, of Chesapeake, VA, Richie Parks and his wife, Dawn, of Exmore, Seth Parks and his wife, Kathy, of Cape Charles, VA, Tracey Parks Evans of Exmore; five great grandchildren, Brandon Evans, Sarah Nelson, Lane Parks, Kolby Evans and Kayla Evans. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 23, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Doughty Funeral Home with Reverend Jonathan Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Haven Cemetery.
