Ruth Warren Ames, 87, a resident of Nassawadox, VA, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at her residence. A native of Church Neck, VA, she was the daughter of the late James P. and Betty Grace Bell Ames. Miss Ames received her bachelor's degree from Mary Washington College and her master's degree from George Mason University. Having taught in the public school system for forty-five years, she was a teacher and librarian for Northampton County Public Schools and before retiring, she was a librarian for Manassas Public Schools. She was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church. She is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth A. Acworth of Birdsnest, VA, and Patricia A. Mapp and her husband, Joseph of Onancock, VA; twelve nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and great nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Bell Badger and two brothers, James M. Ames and Phillip W. Ames. A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Red Bank Baptist Church in Marionville with the Pastor John M. Robertson officiating.
