Mrs. Rubye Knight Rew, 94, a resident of Cape Charles, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013. Born April 27, 1919 in Richmond, VA, she was the daughter of the late Bertha and Estell Knight. She grew up on the Eastern Shore and was married to the late Alva James Wimbrow, and after his untimely death, she married the late S. Farring Rew. They were married for 50 years. Mrs. Rew was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was active until her health permitted her from attending; she served as President of Faithful Workers Class, a 60 year member and past Worthy Matron of Northampton Chapter #2 Order of the Eastern Star, member of the Eastern Shore Woman's Club, serving as Chaplain for many years. She is survived by a son, Alva James Wimbrow and his wife, Carol; three step grandchildren, Connie Jarvis and her husband, Johnnie, Lisa Cook and her husband, Jeff, Barry Rew and his wife, Maria; several step great grandchildren; a very dear friend, Kitty Hickman who was by her side all during her illness, many, many friends, and her loving cat Pinkie. She was predeceased by a sister, Hedy Samuels and a loving cat, Mr. Beautiful. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Cape Charles Cemetery with Pastor Russell Goodrich officiating.
