Robert Cook Lawton

Robert Cook Lawton, 81, husband of the late Paula Wells Staton Lawton and a resident of Cape Charles, VA, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Nassawadox, VA. A native of Norfolk, VA, he was the son of the late Philip Cook Lawton and the late Kathleen Raby Lawton. He was a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, lover of animals and retired construction surveyor.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Lee Lawton Mallard of Virginia Beach, VA, Jacqueline Pamela Renus and her husband, Tom, of York, PA; two grandchildren, Marcella Collins and her husband, Christian, of Lynchburg, VA, Michael Keith Mallard of Chesapeake, VA; two great grandchildren, Kailey Downs and Michael Collins, both of Lynchburg; beloved numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Carolyn Belote. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Albert Lawton; a sister, Marilyn "Joan" Lawton Hicks; two nephews, John D. Hicks and Mark A. Hicks; and a special friend, Olivia Jones.

His family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Heritage Hall and a special thanks to Intrepid Hospice nurses, Dana, Carol and his buddy Pat.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
