Robert Lee Jester, better known as "Rawhide", 71, husband of Anna Maude Jester and a resident of Chincoteague, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his daughter's residence, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, September 11, 2013. He was the son of the late Mabel Dorothy Jester. He was formerly employed by Fred Tolbert Corporation as a crane operator. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the American Legion, Chincoteague Post #159. Robert joined the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company on November 18, 1968. He dedicated his life running ambulance and fire calls. His greatest joy was working at the annual fireman's carnival and pony penning. Other than his wife of 40 years, he is survived by two children, Robert Lee "Bobby" Jester, Jr. and his wife, Cynthia, of Eden, MD, Sherri Lynn Bundick and her husband, Carl, of Painter, VA; two brothers and a sister, Joseph Jester and his wife, Gayle, of Bossier City, La., Anna Mae Garrison and her husband, George, of Newport, NC; Michael Stoakley and his wife, Mary, of FL; six grandchildren, James, Stephen, Courtney, Amber Jester; Olivia and Adam Bundick; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, James Jester and a sister, Shirley Clayton. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, September 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Union Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Eley officiating. Interment will follow in John W. Taylor Cemetery in Temperanceville with fireman honors.
