Robert Richard Huether

Robert Richard Huether, 84, husband of Cecilia P. Huether and a resident of Exmore, VA and Florida passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 at his residence in Exmore. A native of St. Louis, MO, he was the son of the late Robert George Huether and the late Irene Flowers Huether. He was the former owner of Sally & Bob's Drive - In Restaurant, Exmore Marine and Recreation Company, and York Inn Restaurant; Past Master of Broadwater Masonic Lodge #71; recipient of the National Restaurant Association's National Golden Chicken Award; former Little League Coach for the Moose and Pungo teams; and member of Khedive Temple Shrine and Pungoteague Community Church. Mr. Huether was an avid NASCAR fan and quail hunter; raised and trained English Pointer hunting dogs; and raised and showed Miniature Schnauzers and Miniature Pinschers.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a son, Bobby Carroll Huether and his wife, Christine, of Pungoteague, VA; two step-sons, Larry Joyce and his wife, Heather, of Everglades City, FL, and Kevin Joyce of Homestead, FL; a sister, Laverne Parks and her husband, Jack, of Belle Haven, VA; five grandchildren, Angie Huether Crutchley and her husband, Doug, of Exmore, Beth Ann Kellam and her husband, J.W., of Spartanburg, SC, Robert J. "Buddy" Huether and his wife, Jennifer, of Painter, VA, Christy Freeze and her husband, Matthew, of Jamesville, VA, and Jennica Huether of Onancock, VA; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Michael R. Huether; his first wife, Sally Ann Waterfield Huether; a brother, Charles Huether, and three sisters, Delores Tatum, Lillian Bailey and Evelyn Joynes.

A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Belle Haven Cemetery with Reverend Bobby Carroll Huether officiating. Family will join friends at Doughty Funeral Home Monday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Riverside Shore Cancer Center, P.O. Box 430, Onancock, VA 23417.
