Robert E. Taylor

May 30, 1916 — October 19, 2006

Mr. Robert Edward Taylor, 90, husband of Betty Hopkins Taylor and a resident of Onancock, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2006 at Shore Memorial Hospital. A native of Cape Charles, he was the son of the late Asa Thomas Taylor and the late Flora Lewis Taylor. He was a member of Onancock Baptist Church and was a World War II Merchant Marine Veteran. Other than his wife, he is survived by three children, William Thomas Taylor and his wife Mitsuko, Robert E. Taylor Jr. both of Cape Charles, Va., and Virginia T. Swindlehurst and her husband Chuck of Las Vegas, NV.; a step-daughter, Amy Savage Coffey of Annapolis, Md.; a step-son, Vernon E. Hopkins Jr. of Monett, Mo.; four grandchildren, Kim Sanders, Nancy Duvall, Douglas and Stephen Hopkins.He was predeceased by two wives, Virginia Taylor and Elizabeth Savage Taylor, a sister, Clara T. Hart and three brothers, Asa T. Taylor Jr., James T. Taylor, and John Taylor. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 23rd at 2:00 PM from the Doughty Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan B. Hooker officiating. Contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice of the Eastern Shore, P.O. Box 316, Parksley, Va. 23421.
