Robert Lee Bell, 82, husband of Dora Zember Bell, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 22, 2008 at his home in Keller, VA. A lifetime resident of Keller, he was the son of the late Bernie Lee Bell and the late Katherine Leonard Bell. Mr. Bell enlisted in the Coast Guard at the age of 17 and served his country during World War II aboard the USS Spencer. He was a carpenter, building homes all over the Eastern Shore. He was a lifetime member of Hollies Baptist, a member of the VFW Post 4856, and a 1943 graduate of Central High School. Other than his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Dorothy Jean Boutler of Melfa, and Linda Sue Vreeland and her husband Leon of Hampton; five step children, Arthur Bull and his wife Mabel of Chesapeake, Bonnie Nordstrom and her husband Ray of Pocomoke City, MD, Wanda Custis and her husband Paul of Painter, Darlene DeHart and her husband, Robby of Pocomoke City, and J. E. Zember, Jr. of Norfolk, VA; four grandchildren, Tami Utesch of Wisconsin, Traci Johnson of Machipongo, VA, Chad Townsend, and Cory Townsend, both of Hampton, VA; eleven step grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and eight step great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, James Marion Bell and a sister, Ellen Bell. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 2:00 PM from Hollies Baptist Church with Pastor Joe McKnight and Rev. Jack D. Pruitt officiating. Interment with military honors will follow the service in Hollies Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will join friends at Hollies Baptist Church at 12:00 PM on Wednesday.
