Richard Gerald Steffey, Sr.

Richard Gerald Steffey, Sr., Jerry, 79, loving husband of Lou Ann Ashby Steffey for 55 years and a resident of Exmore, VA, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012. He was a native of Indianapolis, IN and the son of the late Albert J. Steffey and the late Carrie Blackwell Steffey. He was a graduate of Purdue University and Pepperdine University. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1981. He was later employed by Ginsberg, Nottingham, and Mapp, and was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Pamela Dawn Bush and her husband, Tom, of Maryville, TN, Beverly Ashby Steffey of Durham, NC, Richard Gerald Steffey, Jr. of Washington, DC, Brian James Steffey and his wife, Shelly, of Gastonia, NC; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Alex, Zachary, Emily, Madeline and Claudia. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 28, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Doughty Funeral Home with Reverend L.Raymond McGarr officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Haven Cemetery.
