Richard Norman

Richard Ernest Norman, 82 of 3244 Page Avenue, Virginia Beach, VA, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at his residence. Born in Norfolk, VA on November 3, 1932, he was the son of the late William E. Norman and the late Emily Laura Humphrey Norman. He was a member of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Maury High School class of 1951 and received his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech with a minor in Nuclear Engineering. He spent 45 years in various phases in the Plastics Industry; including, research, production, development, planning, marketing and sales. Mr. Norman retired in Virginia Beach and was active in local civic groups associated with area development. He enjoyed extensive foreign travels. Survivors include many cousins throughout Tidewater Virginia, West Coast and Canada. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 2:30 PM at Doughty Funeral Home, 3117 Main Street, Exmore, VA with Reverend Ralph Rowley officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Haven Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorials may be made to Virginia Beach United Methodist Church, 212 Nineteenth Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23451.
