Richard Gerald Kromer, 84, husband of Joyce Ripley Kromer and a resident of Horntown, VA, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. A native of Bethlehem, PA he was the son of the late Marvin H. Kromer and the late Mary Lynn Wargo Kromer. Richard was employed by Bethlehem Steel for thirty years and was a retired Maintenance Supervisor, member of Emmaus Masonic Lodge No 792 AF&AM, Emmaus, PA and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was an amateur radio operator whose call sign was N3XR and he received awards for contacting all fifty states on one band and all fifty states on multiple bands.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a niece, Kristina Kromer; nephew, Shaun Kromer; daughter–in–law, Shirleen Kromer; great nephew, Dillon Kromer, of Allentown, PA; a stepson, Michael Wayne Cox of Pulaski, VA; and other family members of Lehigh Valley, PA. He was predeceased by his sons, John Richard Kromer and Robert John Kromer; and his brother, Marvin H. Kromer.
A celebration of life service will be held Monday, July 11, 2022, at 1:30PM at Doughty Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Tarr officiating.
