Rev. Billy J. Edmonson

Rev. Billy James Edmonson, 81, husband of Lorraine Simpson Edmonson and a resident of Willis Wharf, VA, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2006 at his residence. A native of Corpus Christi, Texas, he was the son of the late Richard E. Edmonson, Sr. and the late Ruth Molder Edmonson. Rev. Edmonson retired from the United States Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after thirty years of service and retired as a minister from the Virginia United Methodist Conference with twenty years of service. After his retirement, he served as Pastor of Eastville Baptist Church for four years. Other than his wife, he is survived by four children, Danny Edmonson & his wife Mary of Cecilia, KY, Glenn Edmonson & his wife Julia of Lexington, VA, Judy P. Robbins & her husband Fur of Eastville, VA, and Darryl W. Powell & his wife Linda of Phenix City, AL; one brother, Richard E. Edmonson, Jr. & his wife Cathy of Bastrop, TX.; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 24, 2006 at 2:00 PM from Epworth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tammy Estep and the Rev. Elizabeth P. Freund officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Haven Cemetery with military honors. Family will join friends Sunday evening from 7 to 8 pm at the Doughty Funeral Home.
