Rebecca Riley Gorman, 84, wife of the late Col. Kenneth E. Gorman Sr. and a long time resident of Franktown, VA, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox. A native of Richmond, VA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Robert and Sarah Agnes Kelly Riley. She was a graduate of the College of William and Mary and a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. After retiring as a senior social worker for the Northampton Department of Social Services, she enjoyed volunteering for a senior program at Shore Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Gorman is survived by seven children, Jane Carol Hutchinson of Pungoteague, VA, Sarah Anne Walker and her husband Wade of Belle Haven, VA, Mary Leigh Matthews and her husband Dan of Charlottesville, VA, Timothy Riley Gorman Sr. and his wife Ann of Machipongo, VA, Michael Kelly Gorman of Kill Devil Hills, NC, David Neil Gorman of Charlottesville, and John Norbert Gorman and his wife Patricia of Nassawadox, VA; thirteen grandchildren, April Gorman Finch, Jonathan Garrett Gorman, Timothy Riley Gorman Jr., Pamela Rae Gorman, Revel Wade Walker, Jeremy Kyle Gorman, Kenneth William Walker, Myles Allen Matthews, Catherine Scott Gorman, Jillian Elizabeth Gorman, Aaron David Matthews, Colin Daniel Matthews, Bianca Rose Chase; two great grandchildren, Kayla Lynn Finch and Julian Kane Gorman; a sister, Virginia Riley McGann of Greensboro, NC; and a sister-in-law, Eunice Samson Riley of Richmond. She was predeceased by a son Kenneth E. Gorman Jr., a son-in-law, J. Michael Hutchinson, and a daughter-in-law, Rory Gorman. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 14, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cape Charles with Father J. Michael Breslin officiating.
