Phillip Warren Ames

Phillip Warren Ames, 79, husband of Lucy Churn Ames and a resident of Nassawadox, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2009. Born in Church Neck, Mr. Ames was the son of the late James P. Ames and the late Betty Grace Ames. He retired from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, Rummy, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Other than his wife, Mr. Ames is survived by his children, Peggy Parks and her husband Jimmy of Machipongo, Va., Ruth Soccio and her husband Joe of Newark, De., Charles Ames and his wife Jean, Paige Ames and his wife Suzanne, all of Exmore, Va.; three sisters, Elizabeth A. Acworth of Birdsnest, Va., Ruth Ames of Nassawadox, Va., Patricia Mapp of Onancock, Va.; 5 step children, 20 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Bell Badger and a brother, James M. Ames. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 1, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the Red Bank Baptist Church, Marionville, Virginia with the Rev. John M. Robertson and the Rev. Jeff Conrow officiating.
