Paul Adker Marquedant, age 86, passed away December 19 ,2024, at his Cape Charles home on Mt. Hebron Farm. Paul was born in Jackson, MI, April 20, 1938, to Bonnie Grace Sherman (dec.) and Paul H. Marquedant (dec.), and raised by his stepfather Lawrence (Buster) J. Sherman (dec.).
He was predeceased by his loving and devoted wife April M. Marquedant, son Paul Adker Marquedant, Jr., brother George Marquedant, and nephew David Marquedant.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Marquedant Walsh, son Matthew Jon Marquedant, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
As a teenager he was into cars and motorcycles and in 1955 he fudged his birthdate to join the Navy at the tender age of 17. He wound up in Ocean View where he met and married April, the love of his life.
He was a navigator in the Navy where he also maintained airplanes and received the mechanical training that would be with him throughout his life. He truly was a "jack of all trades". He had a strong work ethic and held many jobs throughout his working career. From car/motorcycle/truck mechanic, plumber, and HVAC tech to general contractor.
After moving around a lot, he settled on the Shore in the early eighties and even though he was a "come here", he found a sense of belonging and became part of the community. He retired from the Northampton School bus garage, but he always had a side job. His hydraulics skills were sought after by commercial fishermen and if he wasn't fixing a combine, he was operating one. His last job was driving and maintaining dump trucks.
In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Later, he bought another motorcycle and enjoyed riding with buddies on trips to Daytona and other destinations.
In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting the American Legion Northampton Post 56 or your local fire and rescue company.
