Patricia Vovcsko

Patricia Joan (Mahary) Vovcsko, 79, a resident of Wachapreague, VA, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the Riverside Shore Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, VA after a short illness. Patricia retired to Wachapreague 15 years ago after working as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years, mostly in the Maternity Unit where she cared for literally thousands of babies during her long career. A graduate of the Westchester, NY School of Nursing, she previously worked at and retired from Citrus Memorial Hospital of Inverness FL and worked at hospitals from Cape Cod, MA to Cooperstown, NY during her nursing career. 'Miss Pat' to her friends, Patricia loved to talk about her five grandchildren, Nicholas, Steven, Amy, Zachary, and Benjamin and kept pictures with her at all times and enjoyed showing them to friends and acquaintances at every opportunity. She was a member of the Ocean View United Methodist Church in Wachapreague and enjoyed baking and social events related to the church and will be missed by friends and family everywhere. Patricia leaves behind three sons, Richard of Mansfield, MA, Charles of Durand, MI and Mark of New Orleans, LA; a daughter, Kathleen Maloney of Lafayette, LA; a brother, Jack Mahary of Port Charlotte, FL; a sister, Marilyn Vining of Margaretville, NY; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Hazel (Norstrom) and father, Merwyn D. Mahary. A celebration of her life memorial will be held at a later date.
