Patricia Callahan Bishop, 76, a resident of Parksley, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Heritage Hall in Nassawadox. Born in Birdsnest, Virginia on April 19, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Claude Robert Gladden and Daisy Downing Gladden. She was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church and the Emblem Club 195 for 37 years. She lived in Birdsnest for 42 years, prior to moving to Parksley. Patty enjoyed tending her flower bed, growing vegetables in her garden, traveling, cooking, crocheting, watching tv, and playing the piano. Her greatest joy was spending time talking and visiting with her friends and family. Better known as Patty, she became a Nurse's Aide in January of 1965, where she worked at Shore Memorial Hospital until June 1976. From there she was employed by Atlas Aluminum Company for 10 years in Chesapeake and back to the shore where she did private duty. She also worked at ESAAA/CAA in Onancock for 9 years, being a caregiver to others. She then did only private duty until her health began to fail. She helped many people over the years and once stated that the Lord had blessed her in many ways and she would continue to help others untill she couldn't go anymore. She is survived by a son, William E. Mitchell of Onancock, Va., a daughter, Vickie Callahan Catlett and her husband Gene of Clinton, Ok.; a close cousin, Lillian Love of Union City, Ga.; two granddaughters, Monica Catlett of Weatherford, Ok and Kari Kay Smith and her husband Kas of Yukon, Ok; two great grandchildren,Jace and Maci Weaver of Weatherford, Ok and numerous cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the graveside of Red Bank Baptist Church Cemetery, Marionville, Va., with Rev. George Fulk officiating.
