Mrs. Nina Grace Colonna Travis, 91, wife of the late Bernard Reid "Cat" Travis and a resident of Cheriton, passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at her residence. A native of Northampton County, she was the daughter of the late George Samuel and the late Olevia Richardson Colonna. She was a retired clerk for Peebles Department Store. She was a member of Cape Charles Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vaction Bible School for many years. She also was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class and the Women's Missionary Union. She is survived by four children, Robert "Butch" Travis and his wife Valerie of Cape Charles, Va., Grayson Reid Travis and his wife Christine of Ashland,Va., Betty Travis Parker of Chesapeake, Va., Mable Travis Houts and her husband Ken of Westville, N.J.; two brothers, Donovan Colonna and his wife Evelyn of Silver Beach, Va., William Tyler Colonna and his wife Mabel of Onancock, Va.; a sister, Georgia Arendts of Virginia Beach, Va.; 19 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Travis was predeceased by a daughter Rebecca Travis Long and a grandson Larry Burkholder. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 5, 2008 at 12:00 PM from the Cape Charles Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Goodrich officiating. Interment will follow in the Cape Charles Cemetery. Family will join friends Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 at the Wilkins-Doughty Funeral Home in Cape Charles.
