Noel Morris Jacob, 94, husband of the late Doris Edwards Jacob and a resident of Jacobia, Cape Charles, VA, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 in Jacksonville, FL. A native of Jacobia Farm, Cape Charles, he was the son of the late Edwin S. Jacob, Sr. and the late Angela Noel Morris Jacob. He was also predeceased by a brother, Edwin S. Jacob, Jr., and sister, Marianna (Jacob) Gregory Edwards. He was a member of Holmes Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his only daughter, Angela Jacob Mullaney and her husband, William (Bill), of Jacksonville, two grandchildren, Noel Maryanna Barnwell (Scott) and Sarah Claire Kilcoin (Kevin), and great-granddaughter, Reagan Kate Kilcoin, all of Jacksonville. Mr. Jacob served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII in the Pacific Arena from 1942-1946. After being honorably discharged in 1946 he was employed by Norfolk Botanical Zoo and Gardens and then by Greenbrier Farms in what was then Norfolk County, Virginia. During this time he worked in horticulture, one of his many interests. He was then employed by Virginia Engineering, and lastly by the Federal Government as a civil engineer and construction inspector where he was able to oversee the construction of a variety of building projects in the Tidewater area, construction being another of his life-long interests. Although he resided in the City of Chesapeake during the years he was employed, he was always an "Easternshoreman" at heart and, upon his retirement in 1977, he and his beloved wife, Doris, move back to a home they had built together on Old Plantation Creek on Jacobia Lane. Mr. Jacob was never happier then when he was spending time with family, boating and fishing on Old Plantation Creek, gardening, building things, and helping others. He was always involved in a project that involved nature or construction, and was always ready and willing to share these passions with all that knew him. His quiet countenance and loving, generous spirit will be greatly missed. A celebration of life service will be conducted Thursday, March 19, 2015, 2:00 pm, at Holmes Presbyterian Church with Reverend Doctor Eugene Soud and Reverend Ernest Gardner officiating.
