Miriam Moore Jones Morris, 62, of Faber, Virginia, formerly of Cheriton, died peacefully Friday July 15, 2005, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Toddville, MD., December 20, 1942, daughter of the late Orem Earle Jones and the late Lelia Mae Moore Jones. She and her husband William Frederick (Pete) Morris raised their family in Cheriton, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister Jeanette Pritchett of Bishops Head, MD. Miriam was a dedicated homemaker and wife who put the needs of family and children above her own. She had a great love of cooking for her family and friends. There was nothing better than a true Maryland Crab cake, the smell of the sea in the air, or a cat in the lap for petting. Her interests varied from tending old roses, to feeding and observing the birds and wildlife of her mountain home. She enjoyed engaging mystery books, country and western music, drives through the country during fall and watching snow fall during the day. But her greatest love was children, all children, especially her grandchildren. Miriam is survived by her children, Wendy Faith Morris and her companion Jennifer Haddock of Fork Union, Lisa Barnes and her husband, Robert of Faber, Carrie Lewis and her husband, Robert of Onancock, Kristina Jackman and her husband Scott of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Cristopher Reynolds of Charlottesville, Zachary Barnes of Faber, Skye Lewis of Onancock, Kaitlyn Jackman of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Regina Moore of Toddville, MD, Ella Maggard of Manassas; numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and her mother-in-law Annie O Brady and her husband Junior of Cheriton. Miriam was a past member of Travis Chapel United Methodist Church of Oyster but practiced her spirituality through the life she lived.
