Mellie Cottle Brown, 92, wife of the late Gilmer A. Brown and a resident of Cape Charles, VA, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Nassawadox, VA. A native of Comfort, NC, she was the daughter of the late Charles M. Cottle and the late Clara W. Cottle. She was a member of Holmes Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a daughter, Julia Brown Jenkins of Kill Devil Hills, NC; four brothers, Charles Cottle of Dunn, NC, Melvin Cottle of Chesapeake, VA, Herman Cottle of Dunn, Charlie Macon Cottle, Jr. of Godwin, NC; three sisters, Clara Mae Hamilton of Richmond, VA, Joan Rowland of Dunn, Doris Williams of Fayetteville, NC; two granddaughters, Stacey L. Jenkins and Kristen N. Jenkins, both of Kill Devil Hills. A graveside service will held Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Capeville Masonic Cemetery with the Reverend Dr. Eugene S. Soud officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Holmes Presbyterian Church, P.O. 258, Cheriton, VA 23316-0258.
