Mavis Parks

August 1, 1925 — January 15, 2015

Mavis Marcell Parks, 89, wife of the late Edwin Smith Parks and a resident of Exmore, VA, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 at her daughter's residence. A native of Union City, TN, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas Hopper and the late Sarah Hickman Hopper. She was a retired bus driver for Northampton County Public Schools and a member of Maranatha Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Edwin D. Parks and his wife, Debbie, of Exmore, Franklin T. Parks and his companion, Sis McNeal, of Hot Springs, VA, H. David Parks and his wife, Ethel, of Exmore; a daughter, Brenda P. Pinkerton and her husband, John, of Exmore; a sister, Jessie Talbert of Exmore; 17 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Doughty Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Muender officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Maranatha Baptist Church, PO Box 1423, Exmore, VA 23350.
