Maury T. "Tom" Driggs, Jr., 75, husband of Catherine F. Driggs and a resident of Painter, Virginia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on the 28th of April 2013 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. Born in Victoria, Virginia, he was the son of the late Maury T. Sr., and Gussie Mae Driggs. Mr. Driggs served with the Virginia Air National Guard stationed at Byrd Field, Sandston, VA for six years, one year of which was on active duty during the Berlin Crisis. He worked as an electrician for 13 years in the Richmond, VA area after which he began teaching vocational electrical classes in Richmond for four years. Following this, he taught residential and commercial wiring courses at Massanutten Vocational Technical Center, Harrisonburg, VA for 20 years until his retirement to Virginia's Eastern Shore in 1992. Mr. Driggs was also a retired Baptist pastor serving many years as pulpit supply for other ministers as God called him. He also served as Bible study leader at Lighthouse Ministries in Keller, VA for 12 years. His greatest joy was sharing about Jesus Christ with everyone he met; following in His footsteps and investing in the lives of many. In addition to his wife of 51 years, he is survived by a daughter, Tracy D. Whipple and her husband, David, of Lawrence, Kansas; a son T. Christopher "Chris" Driggs and his wife, Natalie, of Wilmington, North Carolina; and five grandchildren, Kevin and Kyle Whipple and Joshua, Alex, and Wen Li Driggs; and his many Christian brothers and sisters. A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Maranatha Baptist Church in Exmore, Virginia with Pastors Mike Muender and Joe Moore officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A private family interment will be held at Washington Memorial Park in Sandston, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Maranatha Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1423 Exmore, VA 23350.
