Mary Mitchell Parsons
October 20, 1920 — April 30, 2016
Mary Mitchell Parsons, 95, wife of the late Thomas James Parsons and a resident of Kernersville, NC, formerly of Oyster, VA, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 30, 2016. A native of Northampton County, VA, Mary was the daughter of the late James Thomas Mitchell and the late Maggie Mae Doughty. She was proud of her heritage through the Hog Island and Oyster Communities where she lived most of her life prior to moving to North Carolina. She is a member of the Travis Chapel United Methodist Church in Oyster where she played the piano and organ.
She is survived by two daughters, Lois Ann Carter and her husband, Fred, of Kernersville, Carolyn Simpson and her husband, Billy, of Heron, MT; a sister, Ruth West of Oyster; two grandsons, Jeffrey Robbins and his wife, Rachel, Hunter George and his wife, Jasmine; six great-grandchildren, Brittany, Mary Jean, Jeffrey, Thomas, James, William and numerous extended family. She was predeceased by her daughter; her sister, Virginia Simpson; and her brother, Wesley Mitchell.
A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Cape Charles Cemetery with Reverend Janet C. Allen officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to any Animal Rescue organization of the donor's choice.
