Mary Custis Hargis

Mary Custis Hargis, 95, wife of the late Calvin A. Hargis and resident of Craddockville, VA, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013 at Allzwell Assisted Living Center in Chesapeake, VA. A native of Craddockville, she was the daughter of the late William T. Custis and the late Stella Bull Custis. She was a retired bookkeeper for Pargas, member of Craddockville United Methodist Church, member of United Methodist Women and member of Craddockville Quilters. She is survived by a daughter, Mary H. Fowler of Chesapeake; a sister, Ardis Haines of Reading, PA; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Hargis was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Doughty Funeral Home with Pastor Rob Kelly officiating. Interment will be private. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Craddockville United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. June Custis, P.O. Box 66, Craddockville, VA 23341 or to a charity of one's choice.
