Margaret Savage Mears

Margaret Savage Mears, 97, wife of the late James G. Mears and a resident of Painter, VA, passed away Friday, April 2, 2010 at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Nassawadox. A native of Deep Creek, she was the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Mattie Berry Savage. Mrs Mears was a member of the Exmore Baptist Church. Survivors include four children, Margaret Ann Harris of Onancock, VA, Mary Jane White and her husband David of Salisbury, MD, Lois Sue Amey of Pascagoula, MS, John Lee Ward, Sr. and his wife, Marlene, of Frederick, MD; a stepdaughter, Deanna Hartman and her husband Fred of Florida; a sister, Jo West and her husband Charles of Birdsnest, VA; 6 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mears was predeceased by her first husband, R. J. Ward, six grandchildren, a brother, and three sisters. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at 2:30 PM at the Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore with Rev. Jonathan Carpenter and Rev. Russell Goodrich officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Lawn Cemetery in Onancock. Family will join friends one hour prior to the service.
