Margaret Groton Lewis

November 24, 1947 — April 3, 2018

Margaret Groton Lewis, 70, a resident of Quinby, VA, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, VA. A native of Quinby, she was the daughter of the late Buddy Mitchell and the late Jean Kelley Mitchell. She was a retired cook for LJ's and member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church. Margaret was the world's greatest cook, well known for her spoon bread and crab dishes.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann Louise Lurba and her husband, Tim, of Farnham, VA; sister, LaWanna Wallace of Quinby; brother, Mel Gochnour of Vanceboro, NC; niece, Kristi Moses of Quinby; and two nephews, Seth Moses of Wachapreague, VA, and Jeorge Mariner of Melfa, VA.

A celebration of life service will be conducted Friday, April 6, 2018, at 3:00 PM at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Curtis Lucy officiating. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Smith Chapel U.M.C. Roofing Fund, c/o Brook Duer, P.O. Box 180, Quinby, VA 23423.
