Margaret Ewell Hickman

Margaret Ewell Hickman, 94, wife of the late John Lawrence Hickman and a lifetime resident of Cape Charles, VA, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2011 at her residence. A native of Chesconnesex, VA, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Lee Ewell and the late Laura Elizabeth Shrieves Ewell. Mrs. Hickman was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Faithful Workers Class, a devoted member of the choir, and a member of the Eastern Shore Women's Club. She is survived by one daughter, Laura H. McSpedden and her husband, Joe, of Cape Charles; one son, John Lawrence "Jack" Hickman, Jr. and Irene of Cape Charles; five grandchildren, John L. Hickman III and his wife, Trudy, of Cape Charles, Randall L. Hickman of Cape Charles, Justin G. Hickman and his wife, Devon, of Parksley, VA, Tiffany N. Mohr of Cape Charles, Andrew B. McSpedden of Cape Charles; five great- grandchildren, John IV, Shannon, Randy, Taylor and Cassidy. Mrs. Hickman was predeceased by a brother, Oscar Lee Ewell, Jr. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Cape Charles Cemetery with Reverend Russell Goodrich officiating. Family will join friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 at the Wilkins-Doughty Funeral Home in Cape Charles.
