Lucille Powers (View Video Tribute) Read

Lucille Powers Read, 90, wife of the late Edward Richard Read and a resident of Melfa, VA, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox. A native of Quinby, she was the daughter of the late Lynwood Powers and the late Margaret Onley Powers. She was a retired clerk for the Wachapreague Motel. She is survived by a daughter, Peggy R. Brown and her husband Norvil of Melfa, two sons, L. Maynard Read and his wife Marsha of Reno, NV, and Alma T. Read and his wife Marie of Onancock, VA; twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by a son E. Richard Read Jr. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Sept.12, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. at St. George's Church Cemetery in Pungoteague with Pastor Joe McKnight officiating. Family will join friends Friday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Doughty Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be sent to a charity of one's choice.
