Louise Ayres Pruitt

June 20, 1940 — August 11, 2008

Louise Ayres Pruitt, 68, wife of William J. Pruitt and a resident of Onley, VA, passed away Monday, August 11, 2008 at Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox. A native of Accomack County, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Georgianna Matthews Ayres. She was a beautician and retired from the Accomack County Public Schools. Mrs. Pruitt was an usher and active member of St. Luke AME Church. Other than her husband, she is survived by a daughter Sueann Ayers and her husband Leon of Exmore, a foster child Keva Davis of Georgia; two sisters, Etta M. Crippen of Freehold, NJ, and Lucille Pruitt of Savageville, VA; a brother William Lippman of Patterson, NJ; three grandchildren, Keon Ayers of Tampa, FL, Trenita Dees of Virginia Beach, VA, and Someko Smith of Painter, VA; five foster grandchildren, Jeff, Tiffany, Ernesto, Treniqua, and Treniya. She was predeased by two brothers, Curtis Ayres and Larry Rowe. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 16th, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Macedonia AME Church in Accomac with Pastor Ronald L. Freeman officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Nedab Cemetery in Daugherty, VA. Family will join friends Friday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 at the Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore.
