Louise Powell LeCato

September 16, 1925 — December 17, 2013

Louise Evelyn Powell LeCato, 88, wife of the late John Arthur LeCato, Sr. and a resident of Quinby, VA, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at her residence. A native of Quinby, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Powell and the late Belva Powell. She was a graduate of Central High School and because of her qualifications in high school she was offered and accepted a teaching position at Parksley High School at the age of 16. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business at Golden Beacon College and worked for Suburban Propane for 47 years. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #4856 until their closing and President of their Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Eastern Star and Smith Chapel United Methodist Church in Quinby. She is survived by her son, John Arthur LeCato, Jr. and his wife, Lynette, and a daughter, Belva L. Stevens and her husband, Jerry, all of Quinby; grandchildren, Danialle LeCato Kenny and her husband, Rob, of Salisbury, MD, J. Michael Stevens and his wife, Kimberly, and Jonathan M. Stevens, all of Quinby; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 20, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Becky McGee, Reverend Steve Doan, and Reverend Donna Doan. Interment will follow in Quinby Cemetery. A viewing will be held at Doughty Funeral Home Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30. Memorials may be made to Smith Chapel United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, c/o Gwen Blake, 5046 Seaside Road, Exmore, VA 23350.
