Lloyd Jack Proctor, 94, a resident of Quinby, VA, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Nassawadox, VA. A native of Hertford, NC, he was the son of the late Vassie Lee Proctor and the late Bettie Berniece Davenport Proctor. He was a World War II United States Coast Guard Veteran, retired Tugboat Operator for Moran Towing, member of the Elks Lodge, American Legion and Masonic Lodge. Lloyd was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, decoy carving, antique cars, gardening and raising goats as pets.
He is survived by two grandchildren, Lauren Ander Collier of Tampa, FL, and Stephen Nash Ander of Alexandria, VA; a sister, Mary Proctor Danchise, and two great grandchildren, Megan Mae Collier and Troy Ronald Collier. He was predeceased by his daughter, Phyllis Proctor Ander, a sister, Pearl Proctor Hanbury, and three brothers, Louis Proctor, Josiah Proctor and Joseph Proctor.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore, VA. A graveside service will be conducted Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Hertford, NC, with Pastor Wayne Proctor officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Norfolk Lodge #38, B.P.O. Elks, 1231 Typo Avenue, Norfolk, VA 23502-2323.
