Lavinia Joynes

November 17, 1925 — May 31, 2015

Lavinia Ashby Joynes, 89, wife of the late Arthur West Joynes and a resident of Painter, VA, for 60 years, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. A native of Belle Haven, VA, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Ashby and the late Mattie Killmon Ashby. She was a graduate of James Madison University, retired bookkeeper for Kellam Distributing Company and member of Painter Garrison United Methodist Church.

She is survived by four children, Edie J. Killmon and her husband, Bruce, of Eastville, VA, Marcy J. Ward and her husband, Chris, of Southside Chesconessex, VA, Arthur W. Joynes, Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Accomac, VA, Robert A. Joynes and his wife, Kathy, of Painter; eight grandchildren, Maria, David, Adam, April, Heather, Shannon, Jason, Melissa and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Painter Garrison United Methodist Church with Reverends Donna and Steve Doan officiating. Interment will be private in Belle Haven Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Painter Garrison United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 522, Painter, VA 23420.
