Larry Donald Doughty, 69, husband of Linda Morlok Doughty and a resident of Belle Haven, passed Saturday, September 30, 2006 at Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, VA. A native of Chester, PA, he was the son of the late Clarence Edward Doughty and the late Goldie Doughty Frees. Mr. Doughty was a retired Deputy Director of the Technology Directorate, U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. He was the Class of 1960 Distinguished Military Graduate at Pennsylvania Military College, Chester, PA, where he received a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering. He developed and for many years operated the Holiday Tree Farm in Aberdeen, MD, was a bow hunter and tournament chess player and fished for sharks in the mighty Machipongo River on the Eastern Shore of VA. He enjoyed gardening, sailing, primitive beach camping, surf fishing, clamming and gigging flounder at night. He was a lifetime member of the U.S. Chess Federation and the NRA and a student of Ayn Rand's philosophy, Objectivism. Other than his wife, he is survived by two daughters; Rebecca Raye Doughty and her husband Patrick of Baltimore, MD and Holly Dana Boyle, her husband Matt and two grandsons, Reilly and Brendan, of Spring City, PA; a sister, Jacqueline C. Dewees and her husband John of Glen Burnie; MD and two brothers, Clarence Edward "Duke" Doughty and his wife Barbara Jean of Mays Landing, NJ, Martin Mager Doughty and his wife Jean of Jersey Shore, PA; and eight nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday October 14, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Doughty Funeral Home, Exmore, VA, and Saturday October 21, 2006 at Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home, Aberdeen, MD, with Mr. Clarence Edward "Duke" Doughty officiating.
