Kenneth Eugene McClaren, 84, husband of Mildred Richards McClaren and a resident of Exmore, VA, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013 at his residence. A native of Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Eugene McClaren and the late Janet White. He was a United States Navy veteran, having served in the Korean War, retired from Verizon, a member of the Telephone Company Pioneers, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Villas Fishing Club, Cape May Computer Club, Boy Scout Leader and an active member of the Hare Valley Senior Center where he enjoyed playing Mexican Train Dominos. He was an avid fisherman. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Linda Nordstrom and her husband, Carl, of Exmore; four sons, Kenneth E. McClaren, Jr. and his wife, Rose, of Tuckerton, NJ, Robert McClaren and his wife, Grace, of Virginia Beach, VA, William McClaren and his wife, Margaret, of Monroe Township, NJ, Andrew McClaren and his wife, Theresa, of Santa Cruz, CA; a sister, Beverley Ardis and family of Toms River, NJ; a special friend, Roger Burnup and his wife, Pat, of Long Branch, NJ; 16 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews; many friends and his beloved cat, Miss Kitty. A celebration of life service will be conducted Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Doughty Funeral Home with Reverend Jack D. Pruitt officiating.
